Senna Leaves Herbal Tea
Senna Leaves Herbal Tea
Mildly earthy, slightly bitter, and distinctly herbal, senna leaf tea has a simple, clean flavor with a gentle grassy finish. Senna is traditionally used as a short-term stimulant laxative to support bowel regularity and relieve occasional constipation. Its primary effect is on the intestines, so it is best regarded as a functional herbal infusion rather than a daily wellness tea.
Best Preparation: Add ½–1 teaspoon of dried senna leaves to a cup of hot water. Steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain and enjoy, preferably in the evening if using it for occasional constipation. Start with a weaker infusion, as senna can produce a strong laxative effect.
Important: Senna is intended for short-term use only. Prolonged or excessive use may cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dehydration, or electrolyte disturbances. It should generally be avoided by people with intestinal obstruction or unexplained abdominal pain, and anyone taking regular medication, pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a healthcare professional before use.
